What is the meaning behind the difference in figures in Variant explorer

Update (NOT AN ANSWER): When I dived deep into the variant explorer and the global filters applied to it the main filter that fails is the activity selection one (for a particular stage reason). For example: If filter this variant explorer to go through the 'Awaiting Back-up from Customer' stage reason the median value for the variants in the right hand paretto (66.5) does not add up to the total throughput days spent throughout the process for that variant.

I would really appreciate some suggestions

I'm not 100% sure if this is the answer, but since no-one answered, I'll risk it!

Maybe it has to do with the number of times the activity 'Awaiting Back-up from Customer'  is repeated. What the Variant Explorer is telling you is that the Avg Throughput time between 2 consecutive occurences is 14 days, but it doesn't say how many times it was repeated... Your calculation would be right if there were only 1 repetition.

That it why the total throughput time of the variant is higher than that sum.

I believe @1460047871​  is on the right track.

When you select this variant and filter the dashboard to only show this variant, you could inspect some cases to see how often this is repeated (and since it's 1 variant, all cases will have the same number of repetitions).

Awaiting Back-up from Customer'  is a rework kind of activity here.

And the avg throughput time here is 14 days but since there is a loop on that activity so it doesn't say how many times it was repeated..
